MaeBelle Scott Scio, NY-MaeBelle Scott of 4353 County Road 10, formerly of 1440 Four Mile Road in Allegany died peacefully Tuesday (May 19, 2009) at the home of her grandson in Scio. Born May 14, 1927 in Rixford, PA she was the daughter of Floyd E. and Anna Mae Troxial Westlake. On May 22, 1954 in Humphrey, NY she married George A. Scott who predeceased her May 27, 2003. Mrs. Scott lived in Humphrey most of her life and since 1969 had resided in Allegany prior to moving to Scio in October 2008. She and her late husband had spent many years raising 11 foster children in their home. She attended the former Open Bible Church in Olean and also attended the Humphrey Baptist Church. She served as a missionary leader at the former Foursquare Gospel Church in Olean. She loved caring for people and making them feel a part of her family. Surviving are 2 daughters Sandra (Jeffrey) Hawley of Allegany and Shelley (Gerald) Mitchell of Duke Center, PA; 5 grandchildren; 11great grandchildren; 1 foster son Edward Sherwood of Bloomsburg, PA; 1 brother Warren (Marjorie) Westlake of Gravois Mills, MO; 1 sister Alice L. Westlake of Franklin, PA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister Mary E. Westlake on December 24, 2005. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday (May 21, 2009) from 11:00am until 2:00pm. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
