Obituary of Helen Milani

Helen Edith Milani Winchester, KY Helen Edith Milani, 72, until recently a resident of Valley View Estates in Allegany, New York, died April 15, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington Kentucky of a sudden illness. Helen was born Helen Edith Howard to Robert M. and Edith C. Howard in Falconer, New York on August 3, 1936. She grew up in Falconer attending local schools most of her life. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1957 from Buffalo General Hospital. Helen married Arthur J. Milani on November 9, 1957, after graduating from nursing school. They have four children, three grand children and three great grand children. Arthur predeceased Helen in May 2006. Although Helen was born and brought up in western New York, she lived in a variety of places in California, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio and Kentucky during her adult years. Helen participated in community activities no matter where she lived. She was active in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts while her children were young and assisted with school and social activities as her kids grew up. In more recent years in Allegany New York, Helen was active with the Sixty Plus Club in Allegany, the American Legion, and the Women's Auxiliary of Olean General Hospital. Helen was in the process of moving to central Kentucky to live near her daughters when she became ill in mid-February. Helen is survived by all of her children, grand children and great grand children. Joseph R. Milani and his wife Lorraine in Florence Massachusetts, Elizabeth A. Milani of Richmond Kentucky, Deborah L. Widelo and her husband Steven of Winchester Kentucky and John A. Milani and his wife Barbara of Rome New York. Helen's grand children include Kimberly Milani of Easthampton Massachusetts, Jennifer Milani of Ludlow, Massachusetts, and Nicholas Milani of Florence, Massachusetts. Great grand children are Jason Kelly and Dominic Jose Cosca. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by both parents and her brother Robert D. Howard. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig &amp; Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 7-9pm and on Monday (April 20, 2009) from 9:00am until 11:00am. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 11:00am. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church, will officiate. Burial will be next to her husband in the Bath National Cemetery in Bath, NY. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. <h3>Visitation</h3> Sunday 7-9pm and Monday 9-11am in the funeral home <h3>Services</h3> Monday (April 20, 2009) at 11:00am in the funeral home <h3>Interment</h3> Bath National Cemetery Bath, NY
