Obituary of Jerry Taylor

Jerry L. Taylor Granville, OH-Jerry L. Taylor, formerly of Allegany and Wellsville died Thursday (January 15, 2009) at the Selma Markowitz Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio after a yearlong battle with cancer. Born December 3, 1954 in Port Allegany, PA he was the son of Helen Eva Allen and Herman G. Taylor. On August 16, 1986 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany he married Julia M. Bush who survives. Mr. Taylor was a 1972 graduate of Smethport, PA High School. He had been employed by Cytec Co. in Olean for several years and later worked for Corning, Inc. in Portsmouth, NH. In 2005 he and his family moved to Granville, OH where he was most recently employed at Owens Corning, Inc. of Granville, OH. He was a member of The Church of Saint Edward the Confesssor in Granville and was formerly a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany. He had many interests which included NASCAR, carpentry, and water sports such as tubing and boating. He most enjoyed jet skiing. Surviving besides his wife are 3 sons Brent J. Taylor of Granville, Gregory L. Taylor of Granville and Michael C. (Patty) Taylor of Smethport, PA; 4 daughters Kristina M. Taylor, Corrine B. Taylor and Heather A. Taylor, all of Granville and Molly A. (Nick) Kinner of Hazel Hurst, PA; 2 grandchildren Tristan Taylor and Hannah Taylor, both of Smethport, PA; 1 brother Michael (MaryAnn) Taylor of St. Augustine, FL; 1 sister Jeanne (William) Lowe of Eldred, PA; a stepmother Hazel Taylor of Keating Summit, PA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by 1 sister Gail Freer in January 1999. Friends are being received today from 2-4 & 7-9pm at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Granville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday (January 19, 2009) at 10:00am in the church. Friends will also be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (January 21, 2009) beginning with a prayer service at 10:30am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM will be the principal celebrant and Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will concelebrate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 785 Newark-Granville Rd., Granville, OH 43023 or to the Taylor Family Benefit Fund, c/o any Park National Bank, P.O. Box 3500, Newark, OH 43058-3500.
