Obituary of Donald E. Bell

Donald E. Bell Hinsdale, NY Donald E. Bell, a lifelong Hinsdale resident, passed away Sunday (January 12, 2025) at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, after a 1-year illness. Born October 5, 1938 in Olean, he was the son of Norman and Grace Miller Bell. On November 26, 1964 at St. Mary’s Byzantine Church in Olean, he married Jean M. Sorochin who predeceased him November 26, 2008. Don attended Hinsdale High School and worked for 30 years for the town of Hinsdale prior to his retirement. He liked to fish and hunt in his younger years, and he would often spend time walking in the woods as he enjoyed the peace it brought him. He also enjoyed doing woodworking in his shop. He leaves behind his daughter Diane (Scott) Witzigman of Hinsdale; 1 sister Carol Marcellin, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by 2 brothers, Robert Bell, and Ronald Bell, and 2 sisters, Marian Rouse, and Norma Bell. The family welcomes friends to a visitation on Friday (January 17, 2025) from 11am until 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will begin at 1pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
