Obituary of James R. Wolf

James R. Wolf Allegany, NY James R. Wolf, of Allegany, passed away Monday (September 16, 2024) at his home after an illness. Born October 23, 1948 in Olean, he was the son of Robert and Evelyn Zink Wolf. Jim was a 1966 graduate of Allegany High School and received a degree in horticulture from Alfred Tech. In 1971 he graduated with a degree in Agriculture and Forestry from West Virginia University in Morgantown. He worked in the construction industry through Union Local 621, at first for Work and Silvis Co. for many years, and later primarily for L.C. Whitford Construction Co. After his retirement he enjoyed helping out any way he could for Stayer’s Greenhouse in Allegany. Jim loved the outdoors and maintaining his property. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and watching the seasons change from his hilltop home. He leaves behind his 2 children, Andrew (Christy) Wolf of Little Valley, and Sara Wolf of Cuba; 3 grandchildren, Timothy Wolf, Amelia Wolf, and Mallorie Talbot; 1 sister Vicky (Raymond) McKinney of Allegany, and 2 nieces and a nephew. Friends will be received on Thursday (September 19, 2024) from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A service will begin at 7pm in the funeral home. Rev. Gerard leFeber will officiate. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
