Robert T. Cooper
Shallotte, NC Robert T. Cooper, a Portville native and former resident of Jamestown, passed away in his sleep Wednesday (September 11, 2024) at the home of his mother in Shallotte, NC where he had been residing the past couple of years.
Born March 17, 1960 in Olean, he was the son of Robet E. and Linda Liguori Cooper.
Robert was raised in Portville and later attended Olean schools. He worked most of his career as a carpet installer for Moran’s Floor Store in Jamestown prior to his retirement.
He had many interests including following NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, and fishing and the outdoors. He loved dogs, and all animals. He routinely watched the television show “Cops,” and never missed his soap operas. What he most liked was being around people and in his growing up years he hung out with his close friends the Becker family, and more recently with Ellie, Jake, and their dog Ruby. He treasured his special time with family and will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his mother, Linda Cooper of Shallotte, NC; 2 sons, Logan Cooper of Olean, and Robert Cooper of Winston-Salem, NC; 2 sisters Renee Thornton of Portville, and Robin Mew of Shallotte, NC; 2 nephews Chad Thornton and Nathan Thornton, both of Portville, and a niece Heather Holtz of North Carolina, and several great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, and a sister Diane Cooper.
The family will receive friends on Friday (September 20, 2024) from 11am to 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will begin at 1pm in the funeral home. Cremation will follow, with burial on his father’s lot in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
Following the service, the family invites anyone to a reception at the Portville American Legion.
