Obituary of Charles R. Tyler, Sr.

Charles R. Tyler, Sr. Olean, NY Charles R. Tyler, Sr., formerly of Bozard Hill Rd in Great Valley passed away Sunday (August 25, 2024) at Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. He had been living in Olean in his later years and was most recently residing at Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wellsville. Born November 11, 1941 in Olean, he was the son of Charles V. and Charlotte V. Williams Tyler. On April 27, 1962 in Indiana, he married Mary E. Eberlein who predeceased him on May 22, 2007. Charles served in the US Marine Corps from 1959-1963. He lived in California for 2 years after he was discharged from the Marine Corps, later moving to Indiana to work. In 1968, he moved to Humphrey where he was employed by the former Clark Bros., now Dresser Rand Co. for 22 years. He enjoyed woodcarving and putting puzzles together. He is survived by a daughter Christina (Gayle) Fusco of Olean; 2 brothers Larry (Rita) Tyler of Santa Clarita, CA, and Garry (Pam) Tyler of Sao Paulo, Brazil and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; a son Charles R. Tyler, Jr. in 1985 while on active duty with the US Marines and a sister Nancy Peterson in 2013. A graveside service will be held on Friday (August 30, 2024) at the Five Mile Cemetery, Allegany beginning at 10:30am with full military honors being accorded by the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team. Charles’ brother, Rev. Garry Tyler, will officiate the burial ceremony. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Fire Department or to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240.
