Obituary of Carolyn M. Warner

Carolyn M. Warner Allegany- Carolyn M. Warner, 96, passed away Saturday ( May 11, 2024) at her home of the past 55 years, with her loving son by her side. Born May 3, 1928 at her home in Duke Center, PA, she was one of 5 children born to John T. and Mae Martin McCord. On October 9, 1964 in Duke Center, she married Douglas E. Warner who predeceased her June 9, 2023. Carolyn was a 1946 graduate of Otto Township High School and was a band member and softball player. She later attended Otterbein College in Westerville, OH. She then graduated from Westbrook Commercial Academy in Olean. She began employment for the Bradford Era where she worked for several years. Her bookkeeping education prepared her for her nearly 20 years of employment for Producer’s Gas Co. in Olean in its accounting department. In addition to her work outside the home, she enjoyed raising her son Scott and doting on her many loving nieces and nephews as they grew up. She remained closely involved with her family including her 3 grandchildren, and her lifelong friends. Carolyn was a longtime active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany and volunteered her assistance with the church finances. She enjoyed working outdoors, especially mowing lawns, using a Ford farm tractor to mow until she was 92 years old. She was a former volunteer at the Olean General Hospital snack bar. She also loved her pets, especially her dogs over the years. She leaves behind her son Scott (Kathy) Warner of Allegany; 3 grandchildren Kohl Carpenter, Kate Warner, and Kai Warner; a beloved sister Marcia Karl of Allegany with whom she had a close, lifelong friendship with and spent part of nearly every day with, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister Ann (John) Sue, and 2 brothers Jack (Donna) McCord, and Robert (Barbara) McCord. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral, 3128 West State Road, Olean. A funeral service will be held Wednesday (May 15, 2024) at 11am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 36 N. 4th St., Allegany. Rev. Gerard leFeber will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
