Larry Smith
Hinsdale, NY Larry Smith, 45, of Hinsdale, passed away on Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2023) at the Olean General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Larry was born to Shirley (Hand) Smith and Larry Eugene Smith Sr. on August 10th, 1978, in Houston, TX.
He was a 1996 graduate of Hinsdale Central School and attended college at Jamestown Community College and St. Bonaventure University. He had enlisted in the US Marines, drove a delivery truck, and after moving to Statesboro, GA, worked for Viracon Co.
Larry's favorite role in life was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his pride and joy, his son Colton Boser (17) of Allegany who helped to take care of him when he became ill. They enjoyed going fishing, cooking with each other, watching movies, listening to music, playing dice together, and traveling to visit relatives down south. He was always there for him to offer his love, support, encouragement, and enjoyed lots of quality time together with him and the entire Boser family, whom he considered his second family.
In addition to his son Colton, he is survived by sisters, Amanda Smith, Andrea Chase, and Krystal Caros Stearns, along with his nephews Ernest Chase, Billy and Josh Morrison, Paul Dieteman, and Trent and Leo Morlock, and nieces, Irene Dieteman, Courtney Morrison, Emily Smith, Whitney Cayes, Angel Heart Caros, and Missy Morlock.
Larry was predeceased by both his parents and a sister Angela Elliott and niece Danielle Dieteman.
Larry will truly be missed by family and friends. A celebration of life, to include remembrances along with a light reception, will be held on Saturday, (October 21, 2023) at 2:00pm at 1061 Chipmonk Road, Allegany.

Any extra funds are to go toward his son attending college next year at Universal Technical Institute, where his father was thrilled he would be learning to work on Harley Davidson's, an interest they both shared.
