Obituary of Linnea K. Maier

Linnea K. Maier Allegany, NY Linnea K. Maier, 77, of 2936 Five Mile Rd., passed away peacefully Wednesday (April 5, 2023) at the Olean General Hospital. Born May 21, 1945 in Olean, she was the daughter of Glen A. and Margaret M. Swanson Reitz, Sr. Linnea attended the former elementary school #11 in Olean and later graduated from Olean High School. She also attended Buffalo State College. She had a long and satisfying career as an administrative assistant for the Cattaraugus County Probation Department. Midway through those years she paused to work 8 years as an assistant for Freer Chiropractic. She resumed work for the probation department for several more years until her retirement. Linnea enjoyed the friendships she made over the years, both at work and from the community. She was a devout Christian who loved raising her family and she was a dedicated mom. She liked to read and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She leaves behind 2 children, Vicki Maier of Montpelier, VT, and Scott (Haiyan) Maier of Tallahassee, FL; 3 grandchildren, Dax Desharnais, Kelsey Maier, and Lexie Maier; 1 sister Glenda Hall of Olean; 1 brother Glen (Mary) Reitz, Jr. of Mannington, W.VA; 9 nieces and nephews, and several close friends. The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday (April 11, 2023) from 11am until 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A memorial service will begin at 1pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery at a later date. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
