Jeffery D. Wakefield Olean, NY Jeffery D. Wakefield of 314 N. 2nd St. passed away Saturday (May 14, 2022) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Born January 9, 1961 in Olean, he was the son of Edwin O. and Gertrude C. Langs Wakefield. On August 28, 1994 he married Carla M. Pascucci who survives. Jeffery was a graduate of Olean High School and then enlisted in the US Navy in 1979 where he served until 1987. He appreciated the many countries he saw while serving and enjoyed the many people he met. He was privileged to work in the White House kitchen during the Ronald Reagan administration. He returned to this area to work in various stores, including Lester Shoe Store, Sterling Optical, and Club 41 where he was a skilled bartender. He will be remembered for his good humor, kind-hearted personality, being a prankster, and being an excellent cook. He leaves behind his wife Carla to whom he was very devoted and with whom he was inseparable; 3 stepdaughters Amy Schoonmaker of Olean, Faye Schoonmaker of Kentucky, and Wendy Schoonmaker of Maryland; several grandchildren, including a grandson Olu Laniyonu whom he loved like a son, and 2 granddaughters Donata Laniyonu and Janelle Hernandes and a sister Nancy Kiel of California. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday (June 3, 2022) at 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A service will begin at 1pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
