Obituary of Clara M. Smith

Clara M. Smith Cuba, NY Clara M. Smith, 91, of 5618 Smith Rd. passed away Tuesday (March 22, 2022) at Cuba Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. Born September 15, 1930 in Cleveland, OH, she was a daughter of James E. and Marie Rose Fazekas Korka. Clara married Oren L. Smith, Sr. and together they raised 5 children in Cuba. Mr. Smith passed away in January of 1994. In addition to her enjoyment of being a homemaker and a mother, she was a certified teacher aide at Cuba Central School for 13 years. Later, she was the head librarian at American Cyanamid Co. until retirement. She leaves behind 4 children Bruce Smith of Cuba, Susan (Loren) Card of Pinehurst, NC, Oren L. Smith, Jr. of Cuba and Gregory (Shannon) Smith of Fulton; 5 grandchildren Andrew Card, Aron Lerman, Christina (Colton) Brown, Ryan Smith and Darrin Clear; a brother James (Linda) Korka of Boston, MA; a son-in-law Marc Lerman of Westminster, MA. and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Oren, she was predeceased by a daughter Clara Marie Lerman in 2012 and a sister Mary Lou Biddle. At Mrs. Smith’s request, there will not be a scheduled memorial gathering. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Cuba. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cuba Circulating Library, 39 E. Main St., Cuba, NY 14706.
