Susan M. “Sue” Polk
Olean, NY Susan M. “Sue” Polk, 75, of 328 N. 6th St. entered into the arms of the Lord Wednesday (December 8, 2021) at her home.
Born October 13, 1946 in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Merle and Gloria Worters Morris. She was married to James “Stan” Polk in St. Petersburg, FL. He predeceased her September 18, 1989.
Sue was a graduate of Olean High School and attended Jamestown Community College. She lived with her husband in St. Petersburg, FL until after his death in 1989. During that time, she worked as receiving manager for Sears Roebuck Co. and later as an operations manager for St. Anthony’s Hospital, a job she truly loved.
Upon moving back to Olean, she became a devoted caretaker to her grandchildren and helped with raising them, continued her enjoyment of gardening, and remained an avid shopper. She was always an animal lover and enjoyed the company of her dogs and cats, particularly her 3 favorite dogs Sandy Roo, Bear and Leo.
Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory 2 daughters Deborah Peters and Amy (Albie) Reynolds, both of Olean; 7 grandchildren Lewis Peters, Dylan Burlingame, Noelle Coen, Marcus Snyder, Dillon Reynolds, Faith Miller and Xavier Cook; 2 sisters Judy Morris of Sheridan and Cindi Rauh of Olean; 1 brother James Morris of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Kevin Burlingame on August 27, 2020, and a brother-in-law James Rauh on November 26, 2021.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday (December 17, 2021) at 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Deacon Matt Wenke will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
