Obituary of Waneta J. Johnson

Waneta J. Johnson Wellsville, NY Waneta J. Johnson, a former resident of Allegany, passed away Thursday (July 29, 2021) at the Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wellsville. Born December 7, 1930 in New Hudson, she was the daughter of Leon and Myra Allen Dunlap. She was married to Paul E. Johnson who predeceased her in 1975. Waneta did a tour of duty in the USAFNC from 1959-1965, achieving the rank of captain. She retired as a registered nurse, last employed by Cattaraugus County Nursing Home in Olean for 20 years. She was a member of AARP, and a former member of the 60 Plus Club of Allegany. She also was a member of the NY National Geographic Society and the National Wildlife Association. She is survived by several cousins At Waneta’s request, no visitation or funeral service will be observed. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, 2955 Olean Hinsdale, Rd., Olean, NY 14760.
