Robert Lloyd “Bob" Coen
Hinsdale, NY Robert Lloyd “Bob” Coen, age 68, passed away at home Monday (July 19, 2021), surrounded by his loving wife, devoted children, and family. Bob’s love, dedication and commitment to family, friends, country and community, as well as his wry sense of humor, will always be remembered and honored by all who knew him.
Born November 11, 1952 in Olean, he was the son of Lloyd “Jupe” Coen and Neva Warner Coen Boysha. On August 6, 1983 he married Sara Clayson who survives.
Bob was raised in Franklinville and graduated from Ten Broeck Academy in 1970. From 1973 to 1976 he served in the US Army with the military police as a Specialist 4th Class. He belonged to the Hinsdale American Legion Post #1434 and twice served as its commander.
He worked as a truck driver his whole life, first for North American Van Lines and later for Campbell (later Griffith) Oil Co. He also worked for LCL Trucking, and most recently worked for Caledonia Haulers, headquartered in Minnesota.
Bob had varied interests that included being an avid reader, golfer, hunter, fisherman, trap shooter and being at the beach. He was also a Houston Astros fan. He helped coach and loved watching his grandson play baseball. Most importantly, he loved to watch his grandkids play and to watch them grow.
He leaves behind a loving family including his wife Sara; his mother and stepfather Neva and Joseph Boysha of Franklinville; his children Heather (Michael) Putt of Easley, SC, Jena (Kevin) Olson of Navarre, FL and Molly (Aaron) Stone of Hinsdale; his grandchildren Dalton Russell, Noelle Coen, Rylee Forrest, Kaleb Forrest, Dominic Stone and Lola Stone; his step grandchildren Charley and Carter Olson; his great grandchildren Bentley and Aaliyah Russell; 2 siblings Jeff Coen of Franklinville and Kay (Reid) Coen-Lubojasky of Round Rock, TX; 2 aunts Rose Foster of Middleport and Sharon Warner of Farmersville; his mother-in-law Lola Clayson of Hinsdale and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father.
The family invites friends to gather at the Hinsdale American Legion on Saturday (July 24, 2021) beginning at 11:30am until 2pm for a time of reminiscing about Bob’s life. A more formal celebration service will begin at noon.
