Wade E. Lockwood
Tucson, AZ Wade E. Lockwood, 53, formerly of Hinsdale, died tragically Wednesday (July 4, 2018) at his apartment complex in Tucson as a result of a murderous gun assault by a neighbor.
Born August 4, 1964 in Olean he was a son of Rodney N. and Anastasia "Nancy" Sylvia Quick Lockwood.
Wade was a 1983 graduate of Hinsdale Central School and also of its BOCES welding program. He then received his Associates degree in respiratory care from Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Rome, GA. As a resident of Hinsdale he worked at the Olean Filtration Plant and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served active duty from 1984 to 1987. He then served with the Army Reserves in Olean until his honorable discharge in 1996. He also worked for Genesee Metal Products Inc. in Olean and at St. Bonaventure University.
He moved to Georgia in 1997 where he lived and worked for various nursing homes for 14 years at which time he moved to Tucson. Recently he worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital.
Wade enjoyed travel, collecting things, and he loved his dog Lucy as well as a good cold beer.
Surviving are a sister Beth Ann Lockwood of Hinsdale; 1 niece Victoria (Kevin) Babb; 2 nephews Kyle Geuder and Philip Geuder; 3 aunts and 3 uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers Stephen P. "Spock" Lockwood in 2009 and Richard N. Lockwood in 2012.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday (August 4, 2018) from 10-11am at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11am in the funeral home led by Monroe Bishop of Hinsdale. Full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
