Steven J. O’Dell
Allegany, NY Steven J. O’Dell of 4970 Flatstone Rd. passed away Monday (June 18, 2018).
Born April 20, 1966 in Syracuse he was the son of David and Mary Conners O’Dell . He leaves behind former wife Jennifer Hizney O’Dell and 2 children David Steven O’Dell of Rochester and Emily Elizabeth O'Dell of Camay; his father and stepmother David and Melissa O'Dell of Chipmonk; 4 siblings Kathleen (John) Di Silvestro of Milford, OH, Michael (Andrea) O’Dell of Batavia, OH, Christine (Michael) Becker of Milford, OH and a stepsister Marisa Incelli of Philadelphia, PA and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Steven was a graduate of Marcellus (NY) High School and later received a degree in International Business from SUNY Brockport . He achieved great success throughout his employment in the pharmaceutical industry, working his way up through sales and management with companies such as Upjohn, Centocor Biotech and Genentech. Later he became a Brightstar Home Healthcare francise owner. After operating that for several years he sold it and began work as a District Sales Coordinator with Aflac Insurance.
Steven did not know a stranger. He was a boisterous and confident friend. He had impeccable style and charisma. He loved to cook, drink and entertain family and friends. He loved life on the water and in the woods. He could easily play the part of the relaxed man on the farm and the professional businessman in the city. Steven loved pheasant hunting with his Dad , son David, brother in laws, and nephews, often making an annual trip to Kansas, South Dakota and Iowa. Deer hunting in November was also an annual event with the entire family at his father’s home in Chipmonk.
He was predeceased by his mother.
Friends will be received for a memorial visitation on Saturday (June 23, 2018) from 12-1:30pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will officiate. Lunch will follow at a place to be announced. Burial will be at a later date.
