I once asked Robert about his impressions of Olean. He told me that before he moved here, he had imagined a landscape with hills. He said that when he first came here, he saw the landscape and it looked just like what he imagined. After that, he moved here and stayed. This contentment and comfort with place and community was lovely to see. I also remember his artwork, his origami, his sharing, his very honest yet gentle way of saying things like they were, his sense of humor. And his dedication to making this a better place.
