Obituary of Margaret M. Stady

Margaret M. Stady Allegany, NY Margaret M. Stady, of 2262 Valley View Drive, passed away peacefully Sunday (May 24, 2026) at her home, in the loving care of her family. Born July 3, 1936 in Bradford, PA, she was one of eight children born to Lloyd and Catherine Paige Moore. On September 22, 1956 in Allegany, she married Laurence C. Stady, Sr. who predeceased her February 13, 2014. Margaret lived in Bradford and later Knapp’s Creek and graduated from Allegany Central School in 1956. She was a loving and hard-working wife and mother. She spent years helping on the family farm where she milked cows. She took joy in raising her six children and felt blessed to be a part of her grandchildren’s lives. She worked for a number of years as a cafeteria worker for Allegany Central School and was a devoted and active member of the Allegany Fire Department Auxiliary and the Allegany American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by five children, Laurence “Rick” (Mary) Stady, Jr., Lori (Gary) Wood, Leisa O’Brion, Lanie (Cheri) Stady, and Ladd (Sarah) Stady; nine grandchildren, Richard Stady, James Stady, Christopher Wood, Eric Wood, Amber DeMoura, Samantha Faller, Andrew Stady, Amanda Moran, and Tyler Stady; five great grandchildren, Caleb Stady, Vida Stady, Ayla Stady, Dalton DeMoura, and Kinsley DeMoura; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Terry Lee Stady in 1960; a daughter Lynn Elizabeth Stady in 1988, and seven brothers and sisters, William Moore, Kenneth Moore, Junetta Dunkel, Virginia Wallace, Sara “Sal” Spring, Doris Diesfeld, and Richard Moore. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will be held on Saturday (May 30, 2026) at 1pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
