Anita I. Wenzel Wesley
Allegany, NY Anita I. Wenzel Wesley, 87, of N. First St., died peacefully at home on Sunday (September 28, 2025).
Born May 7, 1938 in Olean, she was the daughter of Robert J. and Doris A. Stephan Wenzel, Sr. In 1959 she married Joseph R. Wesley, Sr., who predeceased her May 5, 2022.
Anita worked at several businesses over the years including the Castle Restaurant, Monica’s Restaurant, Blumenthal’s Sporting Goods, and Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home.
She was an active life member of the Allegany American Legion Auxiliary, enjoyed going to the casino every day, and making the rounds at garage and estate sales.
Surviving are her 5 children, Tina Lipkowski of Buffalo, Linda Pike of Buffalo, Patricia “Patsy” (Chris Maine) Wesley of Allegany, Joseph R. Wesley, Jr. of Victor, and Peter Wesley of Olean; seven grandchildren Suzie, Jake, Jeremiah, Lydia, Emma, Nick, and Brianna; four great grandchildren, Alexander, Olive, and Maddie, and Mira; one brother Robert (Donna) Wenzel, Jr. of Allegany; two sisters, Patricia Dickens of Las Vegas, NV and Judith Burns of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Lorrie Wesley of Allegany, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Joe, she was predeceased by a son, Howard E. Wesley; a brother, Richard Carl Wenzel, and three sisters, Sara Slevinski, Linda Casselleri, and Diana Rzepka.
All are welcome to a memorial celebration of Anita’s life that will be held on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) beginning at noon until 3pm at the Allegany American Legion, 4350 Route 417. Burial will precede the Legion gathering at 11am in Allegany Cemetery.
