Obituary of Robert J. Panada, Jr.

Robert J. “Jimmy” Panada, Jr. Olean, NY Robert J. “Jimmy” Panada Jr., 77, of Olean, passed away Sunday (September 21, 2025) at the Olean General Hospital. Born October 10, 1947 in Olean, he was the son of Robert J. and Mary Jane Simmons Panada, Sr. On October 15, 1966 in Olean, he married Mary Reed who predeceased him April 26, 2022. After high school, Jimmy served in the US Army from 1966 to 1969. He then worked for the former Penn Central, later Conrail. After retirement he worked for the Beef ‘n’ Barrel Restaurant in Olean. He enjoyed his membership at the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Olean and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, the Buffalo Bills, and of NASCAR. He enjoyed tending to his yard and watching old western movies. He is survived by two sons, Robert A. (Maureen) Panada of Hilton, and Steven P. Panada of Olean; a granddaughter, Desirae Bugman of Greece; step grandchildren Lauren(Jonathan) Huggin of Wilmington, NC and Landon Cussins of Bradford, PA; two great grandchildren, Phoenix Bugman and Portlyn Bugman, both of Greece; two step great grandchildren Cole Cussins of Bradford, PA and Everly Huggins of Wilmington, NC; two sisters, Noreen (Peter) Hickey of Winterville, NC, and Darlene (Tom) Person of Rushford; four sisters in-law, Kathy Duino of Allegany, Anita Schnell of Olean, and Karen (Paul) DeLong of Allegany Helen Kay Reed of Olean; a brother-in-law, Jeff (Tammy) Reed of Olean, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter Tracy Panada in 2025, his parents, Robert and Mary Jane, and his stepmother, June Panada. The family welcomes friends to a memorial visitation on Saturday (October 4, 2025) from 1-3pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Private burial will be Mt.
