Obituary of Denise M. Renaud

Denise M. Gagliardo Renaud “Loving wife, mother, sister, daughter” Olean, NY Denise M. Gagliardo Renaud, 63, of Olean, passed away from a rapid illness on Monday (September 1, 2025) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by the loving presence of her family. Born October 4, 1961 in Olean, she was the daughter of Vincent and Rosemarie Stritof Gagliardo, Sr. On March 27, 1999 in Olean, she married David Renaud who survives. Denise was a graduate of Walsh High School and earned a dental hygienist degree from Monroe Community College. She first worked in Pittsburgh for two years, then returned to Olean in the 1990’s where for the last thirty years she was employed by Barkley B. Daugherty, Jr., DDS. Denise was a devoted catholic, attended the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, and supported the church in its ministry outreach programs. She was also very health conscious and could always be found working out at the gym, especially lifting weights. She loved the Olean community and the friends who meant so much to her. She will be remembered as a happy person who raised her family with love and who taught them attention to good manners and to have a kind and giving heart. She passionately supported her children in their sports activities as well as all their aspirations in life. She leaves behind her husband David; two children, Sophia Renaud, and Sam Renaud, both at home; her father, Vincent of Olean; two brothers, Vincent (Coleen) Gagliardo, Jr. of Fairport and Marc (Tammy) Gagliardo of Union, KY; one niece, Anna Rose Gagliardo, and two nephews, Vincent Gagliardo, III and Patrick Gagliardo. She was predeceased by her mother Rosemarie on July 31, 2014. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11am to 1pm, and 4 to 7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday (September 6, 2025) at 9am at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to an association that supports a cure for pancreatic cancer (pancan.org).
