Obituary of Shawn R. Wanamaker

Shawn R. Wanamaker Allegany, NY The family of Shawn R. Wanamaker, 65, of Allegany, is saddened to announce his passing on Saturday (July 26, 2025), after a long illness. He was 65 years old. Born May 2, 1960 in Olean, Shawn was the son of Ralph R. and Maxine E. Edwards Wanamaker. He attended school in Olean. Clever and creative, Shawn became a skilled ceramic tile cutter. He worked in his craft for various employers and individuals. Later he worked at Home Depot and Worth W. Smith in Olean. In his later years, Shawn became an accomplished amateur photographer, capturing through the camera lens the beauty of nature, the night sky, and his beloved backyard birds. He became a very good cook to which his friends and family can attest. He was a lover of cats—his own and the local strays, whom he generously supported. Shawn was predeceased by his parents and his loving partner of twenty-seven years, Peggy Lombardo. Surviving are his daughter Melissa Wanamaker of Buffalo, and his granddaughter. Also surviving are Shawn’s siblings, Brian Wanamaker of Allegany, Luanne Wanamaker of Jamestown, and Gayla (Jerry) LaFredo of Henderson, Nevada, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
