David G. Rutterman
Olean, NY David G. Rutterman, 64, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday (July 15, 2025) after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Dave was born May 21, 1961 in Groton, CT and was one of four children born to John W. “Jack” and Elizabeth A. “Betty” Crosson Rutterman. He had enjoyed a loving, long-term relationship with Mia O’Brien, having known each other since childhood and who were blessed to share their adult lives together.
He was a graduate of Portville Central School and later received a bachelor’s degree from Grove City College. He worked for decades for Eagle Air Compressors based in Greensboro, NC.
Dave was an outdoorsman through and through. Whether it be boating, four-wheeling, biking, or hiking, it was always made better for him when shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed a good beverage with friends, and was a music fan, knowledgeable about many genres. He also enjoyed being a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Olean where he was soon to be an active board of director. He loved animals, especially dogs, and was the beloved owner of his yellow lab, ‘Bubba.’
He leaves behind the love of his life, Mia; his mother Betty of Portville; 2 sons, Ty (Tamara) Warner of Portville, and William Rutterman of Crystal River, FL; a stepson, Jared (Nicole) Warner of Rixeyville, VA; 3 grandchildren, Adelyn Warner, Jackson Warner, and Hannah Warner; 2 brothers, Doug (Brenda) Rutterman of Portville, and Dan (Pam Franklin) Rutterman of Morganton, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Jack in 2016, and a sister, Linda Emick in 2001.
The family invites friends to a memorial visitation to be held Saturday (July 19, 2025) from noon to 2pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A service will begin at 2pm in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Chris Emminger of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
