Obituary of Arlouine F. Magee

Olean, NY Arlouine F. Magee, 101, formerly of Gargoyle Park, passed away Thursday (February 20, 2025) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean where she had resided since 2017. Born April 29, 1923 in the Town of Wirt, she was the daughter of Clarence and Mable Miller Canfield. On March 3, 1946 she married Thomas S. Magee, Sr., who predeceased her July 2, 2011. Arlouine graduated from school in Friendship. She began working at the former ACME Electric Co. in Cuba, and later for the former AVX Co. in Olean. She retired after working for a number of years for the former D & K Store in Olean. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean, and she enjoyed knitting and doing embroidery. She leaves behind her family, including a son, John (Nancy) Magee, Sr. of Olean; 5 grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Frances Haines of Machias. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Thomas S. Magee, Jr. on May 29, 2006; 4 sisters, Dorothy Brazee, Helen Stives, Hazel Mulkins, and Marion Canfield, and 2 brothers, Clyde Canfield, and Robert Canfield. The family will hold a private visitation at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Burial will be next to her husband in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean. A memorial service will take place at a later date and will be announced.
