Janet E. Schuman Allegany, NY Janet E. Schuman, of the South Nine Mile Rd., passed away Monday (May 31, 2021) in Buffalo, following recent heart surgery. Born November 15, 1945 in Lackawanna, she was the daughter of Howard and Elizabeth Wilkining Koningisor. On April 30, 1966 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany she married Clair A. Schuman who survives. Janet was a 1963 graduate of Randolph Central School and first began work for the former First National Bank in Allegany as a secretary to Harry Krampf. She later worked for a number of years for the former AM&A's, later BonTon in Olean. She retired in 2011 after working as a sales representative for Vector Marketing for many years. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Music was always a passion and talent for her. In high school, she was involved with its music program and once sang live on the radio in Jamestown. As an adult she availed herself for weddings and funerals, usually without charge, and sang as a cantor at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean. She involved her sons in the school music programs and always loved attending their programs. Janet loved doing ceramics, especially with her girlfriends, and also loved visiting flea markets and antique shops. She also enjoyed meeting socially with her fellow retirees from Vector Marketing. Surviving in addition to her husband Clair of 55 years are 2 sons David A. (fiancé Debbie Kyler) Schuman of Salamanca and Kevin H. Schuman of Allegany; 7 grandchildren Hannah, Ashlyn, Kylie, Colton, Micheal, Alexis and William; 1 great grandson Cyrus; 1 sister Eileen Akeley of Russell, PA; 1 brother Gary (Roxy) Koningisor of North Warren, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was looking forward to the upcoming birth of her twin great-granddaughters this summer. She was predeceased by an infant son Keith A. Schuman and an infant brother Thomas. Friends are invited to a funeral mass at St. Bonaventure Church on Thursday (June 3, 2021) at 9:30am. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Area Historical Association, PO Box 162, Allegany, NY 14706, the American Heart Association of WNY, 5488 Sheridan Dr #300, Williamsville, NY 14221, the Allegany Rescue and EMS, Inc., PO Box 217, Allegany, NY 14706 or to the Allegany Engine Co., 188 W.
