Obituary of Rebecca T. Shields
Rebecca T. "Becky" Shields Allegany, NY Rebecca T. "Becky" Shields, 55, of 1501 Chipmonk Rd., passed away peacefully Sunday (May 2, 2021) at her home, with her loving family at her side. Born July 28, 1965 in Hornellsville, she was the daughter of Clark D. and Sandy Higley Tucker. On December 21, 1996 in the former First Presbyterian Church in Allegany she married Barry W. Shields who survives. Becky was a graduate of Allegany Central School and later attended the New York Institute of Massage in Williamsville, and also Jamestown Community College. She had been employed by the former Lippert Sand and Gravel Co., later IA Construction Group in Allegany for 24 years. More recently she worked as a licensed massage therapist in the area. Her passion, among many, was to make homemade wine that she was proud to have had named "award winning". She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tyler Chapter in Portville, and was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church in Allegany. She more recently attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean. Through her church family she became involved with Cozy Quilts, an outreach program of assistance to patients being treated for cancer. She served on the board of directors of Cozy Quilts of Western New York and was active with the Southern Tier Quilting Guild as well. In addition to quilting, she also enjoyed bowling and camping. She is survived by her loving husband Barry; her mother Sandy Tucker of Bradford, PA, a daughter Alexis Shields of Allegany; 2 stepchildren Timothy (Jessica) Shields of Portville and Tammy (James) Veno of Hinsdale; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 2 sisters Michelle "Shelley" (Gregg) Boser of Bradford, PA and Barbara (Thomas) Jones of Kane, PA and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father in 2010. Services are not being planned at this time. A Celebration of Becky's life will be held at a later date and will be announced. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Cozy Quilts of WNY, 9389 Route 98, Franklinville, NY 14737. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
