Obituary of Eugene D. Quinlan

Eugene D. "Gene" Quinlan Allegany, NY Eugene D. "Gene" Quinlan, 56, of 46 1/2 N. 4th St., passed away unexpectedly Sunday (December 27, 2020) at his home. Born June 16, 1964 in Olean, he was the son of Eugene F. and Sheila M. Dixon Quinlan. Gene was a 1982 graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School and attended Geneseo State University. In 1987 he received a degree in management from St. Bonaventure University. He had been employed in hotel management for his whole career, first starting for the former Castle Inn in Olean and then for other hotel chains in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and was a longtime fan of the Buffalo Bills, the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, and Notre Dame football. Surviving are 4 siblings Patricia (George) Covley of West Seneca, Francis (Tim Gregory) Quinlan of Indianapolis, IN, Robert (Jody) Quinlan of Salamanca and Phillip Quinlan of Allegany; a nephew Joseph (Kelly) Covley; 2 nieces Elizabeth Covley,and his goddaughter Margaret Covley and an aunt Margaret Grady of E. Amherst. He was predeceased by his father in 1983 and his mother in 2013. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-6pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A prayer service will be held Thursday (December 31, 2020) at 9:30am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
