Rhea L. Carls Allegany, NY Rhea L. Carls, of Allegany, passed away Thursday (August 6, 2020) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean, where she had been residing since last October. Born November 17, 1938 in Olean, she was a daughter of Lewis A. and Lucile Smith Carls. Miss Carls was a 1956 graduate of Allegany Central School and a 1960 graduate of St. Bonaventure University. She was a lifelong resident of Allegany and had been a former teacher at Griffith Institute in Springville, and at Hinsdale Central School. She was a former member of St. Bonaventure Church and its Altar-Rosary Society, and currently was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels in Olean. She was also a former member of the Village of Allegany Planning Board. She held a grateful appreciation for the care she received while at The Pines and always cherished her many friends, family, and Godchildren. She is survived by a brother Paul L. Carls of Allegany. At Miss Carls' prior request, there will be no public visitation. In consideration of the health and safety of all her many friends due to COVID-19, a service will be privately held, with burial at St. Bonaventure Cemetery on her parent's lot.
