Gary E. Singer

Allegany, NY     Gary E. Singer of Allegany passed away Friday (November 10, 2017) at the Olean General Hospital after a long illness.

Born September 12, 1945 in Altoona, PA he was the son of Allen and Gladys Faye Watson Singer.  On August 26, 1967 at St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Jamestown he married Barbara A. Fusco who survives.

Gary graduated from Jamestown High School and then served with the Pennsylvania National Guard for 6 years.  He was a member of the Teamster's Union Local 649 and was an accident-free truck driver for over thirty years.  He had an entrepreneurial spirit and once owned a gas station in Jamestown.  Throughout his adult life he enjoyed automotive restoration, especially classic cars.  He had a passion for racing and enjoyed attending NASCAR events around the country with his family as well as National Hotrod Association drag-racing events.

He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and formerly coached midget football for several years in Allegany.

Surviving besides his wife are 3 children Joelle Singer of Buffalo, Mark Singer of Denver, CO and Justin (Tiffany) Singer of Madison, OH; 2 grandchildren Mackenzie and Cole; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Janet Fusco of Jamestown and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by 2 brothers James Singer and Richard Singer and 1 sister Donna Gottshall.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 1-3 & 6-8pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean.  A prayer service will be held Monday (November 13, 2017) at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Bonaventure Church.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St. Erie, PA 16505 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
