Obituary of Neil L. Converse

Neil L. Converse Ischua, NY Neil L. Converse, 83, of 4832 Five Mile Rd. passed away Friday (March 17, 2017) in his home in the presence of his loving family. Born January 23, 1934 in Whitesville he was the son of Arthur Converse and Gladys Dippo Converse. On December 20, 1953 in Hinsdale he married Dorothy "Dot" Dippo who predeceased him May 7, 2005. Neil worked a variety of jobs starting at a young age but primarily was a truck driver for 40 years for Stroehmann's Bakery in Olean, retiring in 1993. Along with his son Lawrence he owned and operated LLC Wrecking for 20 years. He also served as the Ischua Town Assessor for many years. He was a member of the Ischua Fire Department as well as a longtime member of the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany. Surviving are 4 children Lawrence Converse and Neil Converse, both of Hinsdale, Holly Kennedy of Virginia and Stacey McCready of Olean; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a stepmother Martha Converse; 4 brothers Howard (Nancy) Converse, Leo Converse, Bruce (Carolyn) Converse and Merle (Norma Jean) Converse; 2 sisters Beatrice (Bill) Fawcett and Onalee Learn and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a son, 2 daughters, a grandson and 2 brothers. Private services will be held Monday (March 20, 2017) in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ischua Fire Department, 5634 NY-16, Hinsdale, NY 14743.
