CAROL J. VAUGHN "Loving Wife, Mother and Sister" OLEAN - Carol J. Vaughn of 554 Martha Avenue died Wednesday October 23, 2002 at the Waters of Salamanca following a short illness. Born in Bradford, PA on August 2, 1945 she was a daughter of Silas E. and Susan J. Demming. On November 23, 1963 in Olean she married Walter E. Vaughn, Sr. who survives. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olean. She was a foster mother and fresh air host parent for many years to many children and had worked at Head Start. She loved her family and was an avid bingo player. In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Lucinda (Dale) Connelly of Olean, four sons, Walter (Patricia) Vaughn, II of Olean, Philip (Adella Hackett) Vaughn of Hinsdale, Wayne (Shannon) Vaughn of Salamanca and Bradley (Melissa) Vaughn of Olean, ten grandchildren, several foster and adopted grandchildren, a sister Joyce "Peggy" (William) Hartman of Little Genessee and many nieces and nephews In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father Clair Isaman and a son Thomas J. "T.J." Vaughn. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean on Saturday October 26, 2002 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at which time funeral services will be conducted. Rev. Doug Travis, pastor of New Hope Fellowship Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Children's Hospital, First Baptist Church of Olean or to New Hope Fellowship Church.
