Naples Florida- Rhoda Frankel Lown, a former Olean Resident, passed away Sunday (November 6, 2016) in Naples, Fl. Born August 5, 1930 in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of Gertrude and Samuel Frankel. Rhoda graduated from Christopher Columbus High School prior to her 16th Birthday. She attended Syracuse University, where she met her husband Myron “Mike” Lown. She graduated in 1952. That same year, she and Mike wed in New York and settled in Mike's home town of Olean. After spending the early years of her marriage focused on raising their three children, Rhoda gradually expanded her focus, assisting her husband in running his business, The Olean News Press (later Lown Printing). In so doing, she was an early example of a woman raising children while working outside the home. By the early 1980's Naples became Rhoda and Mike's second home, where they developed many close friends. Although following the passing of her beloved husband, Rhoda gave up her Olean home, she continued to delight in returning each summer, socializing with her many friends. Rhoda was a member of Temple B'nai Israel of Olean, Temple Shalom of Naples Fl, and until recently, Quail Creek Country Club where she thoroughly enjoyed the ladies “niners.”Rhoda's ability to enjoy life and whenever possible, to say yes to every invitation extended will be remembered and missed by all her knew her. Surviving are her three children Maxwell (Lisa Krimen) Lown Lake Forest, Ill, Cara (Mark Gertler) Lown of New York, NY, and Andrew Lown of Naples, Fl; four grandchildren Celia and Michael Lown ,and Sarah and Sam Gertler. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother Leonard Frankel. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Thursday from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30am at the funeral home. Rabbi Alan Podet will officiate. Burial will be in B'Nai Israel Cemetery in Olean. Memorials if desired may be made to the Temple B'nai Isreal PO Box 224, Olean NY or to the Temple Shalom 4630 Pine Ridge Rd, Naples, FL 34119
