Olean, NY Gloria Jean Osgood, 72, passed into the arms of the Lord on Friday (September 30, 2016) at the home of her son, following a lengthy illness. Born in Olean on March 21, 1944, she was the daughter of Lillian Armstrong and the late Merle Hulbert, Sr. Gloria was a graduate of Olean High School and resided at 1008 Vine Street in Olean. Gloria owned and operated the former Rainbow Restaurant on North Union Street across from Olean Center Mall for many years. She also worked at the Motherhouse in Allegany. She was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, and the Moose clubs and was an avid bingo patron at several area bingo halls. She also enjoyed traveling with her cousin Shirley Link. Gloria is survived by her mother, Lillian Armstrong of Olean; sisters Becky (Lee) Kenyon, Marie (John) Slater, Sylvia Theis, Elizabeth (Sissy) Baker, Eva Marie (Cindy) Foss, and Sandy Acevedo; brothers Merle (Butch) Hulbert Jr., Michael Hulbert; son Robbie Hulbert (Joanie Cottrill) of Olean; 4 Grandchildren Tanya Jo, Robbie Jr., Joshua, and Michael; 2 Great Grandchildren, Alana and Jocelyn; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Tracey Allen, in 1965; father, Merle, in 1984; her maternal grandmother, Edna R. Adsit, in 1992; and aunts, Edna Mae Kranock, Azeltha Besecker, and Evelyn Bloom; and an uncle, George Hatch Sr. There will be a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263; HomeCare & Hospice, 1225 W. State St., Olean, NY 14760; or another charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
