Beulah "Bea" Williams-Hill-Baldwin Olean, NY Beulah "Bea" Williams-Hill-Baldwin, of 1865 Willard St., town of Allegany, passed away on Tuesday (August 16, 2016) at the age of 97, after a long illness, surrounded by family and loved ones at home. Bea, as she was affectionately known, was born September 9, 1918 in the town of Humphrey, the daughter of the late Nathan S. and Blanche Stone Williams. She was baptized in the Five Mile Creek on December 14, 1930, by the Pastor of the old Five Mile Baptist Church. The schooling that she received ranged from one-room schoolhouses to Allegany High School. In August of 1935, this farmer's daughter married Howard H. Hill, who passed away in April 1957. In July 1960 she married Ronald Baldwin, who passed away in March 1983. Being a farmer's daughter, Bea was a worker, first employed at the old Reactance Plant during the war years, then Blair's Diner and Gould's Variety Store, also at Meadow Brook Dairy and finally at Acme Electric in Allegany, retiring in 1983 after 31 1/2 years of service. She belonged to the Home Bureau for a time and was a long-time social member and Historian for the Allegany American Legion Auxiliary, Charles Harbel Post 892. She also enjoyed the 60 Plus Club retirement group. Bea loved to travel visiting family and friends in Alabama, Florida and Texas. Her hi-light was a trip to Alaska in the spring of 2013. Bea lived her whole life in Allegany; but in her later years wintered with family in Alabama and Texas. She loved the outdoors, gardening and flowers and all that went with it. Many a good time was spent at her camp in Irish Hollow and of course the critters too. Her favorite critters were Buddy her cat and Pudgy the family dog. Bea was also a very crafty person, hanging wallpaper, loving to make afghans, hooked rugs, quilts and also enjoyed crocheting, tatting and did some chair caning at one time. During the war years, the family lived out of the garden and cellar, as she was a Master Canner, as were many in those days. She is survived by a son, Francis (Joan) Hill of Olean; 2 daughters Beverly (Robert) Smith of Camden, AL and Chris (Rose) Baldwin of Olean; a sister Gertrude C. Keim of Allegany; 10 grandchildren, Cheryl Smith, Linda (Kenneth) Direktor, Randy Smith, Patty (Troy) Sessions, Timothy (Karen) Hill, Paul (Jennifer) Hill and Jessica (Dylan) Newman, Daniel (Chastity) Nephew, Thereasa Nephew and Anna (Annaliesse) Garza; 19 great grandchildren, Jillian, Jordan, Andrew, Tyler, Daniel, David, Liam, Norah, Quinn, Stetson, Roper, Kenny Ray, Tristian, Daniel III, Shyan, Jacob, Heather, Trinnity and Xavier and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 4 brothers Ivory, Lawrence, Clifford and Nathan Williams and 4 sisters Eva Wilber, Charlotte Tyler, Blanche Dutton and infant Baby Williams. Friends and family will be received from 2-6pm on Saturday (August 19, 2016) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean where funeral services will begin at 6pm. Pastor Gerald leFeber will officiate. Burial will be at the Five Mile Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations can be made to the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892, 4350 Route 417W Allegany, NY 14706, Homecare and Hospice 1225 W.
