Lee D. Stoeckel, Sr. Allegany, NY Lee D. Stoeckel, Sr. 78, of 4303 S. Nine Mile Rd. passed away Sunday (April 24, 2016) at the Olean General Hospital after a short illness. Born July 2, 1937 in Salamanca he was the son of Louis H. and Helena Steffenhagen Stoeckel. On August 27, 1960 at Holy Cross Church in Salamanca he married Lucille A. Valeski who survives. Mr. Stoeckel was a 1956 graduate of Allegany High School and worked at the former Sears and Roebuck Co. in Olean for about ten years. He then worked for 25 years and was a part owner of Beseker and Coss in Olean prior to his retirement. He also enjoyed raising cattle on the family farm on the South Nine Mile Rd. over the years. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and was a lifetime member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club in Salamanca. He was also an avid fan of Duke University basketball. Surviving besides his wife are 3 children Stephanie (Henry) Flink of Bridgewater, MA, Lee D. (Jennifer) Stoeckel, Jr. of Kenmore and Michael J. Stoeckel of Lancaster; 4 granddaughters Leanne (Kevin) King, and Meghan, Laura and Courtney Armagost; 1 grandson Lee D. Stoeckel, III; 3 step grandsons; 2 great grandchildren Jason and Aubrey; 3 sisters Mary Danan Myers of Salamanca, Lynn Marie Lum of Tonawanda and Ruth Helena Stoeckel of Allegany; 1 brother John "Jack" (Beverly) Stoeckel of Allegany and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Stoeckel and an infant sister Kay. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. A prayer service will be held Wednesday (April 27, 2016) at 10:00am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM. pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Allegany Rescue and EMS, Inc., PO Box 217, Allegany, NY 14706.
