Walter Brol Allegany, NY Walter Brol of 3334 N. 7t St. passed away suddenly Saturday (January 2, 2016) at his home. Born December 27, 1928 in Salamanca he was the son of Walter and Julia Puvel Brol. On August 13, 1955 at Transfiguration Church in Olean he married Theresa Kolasinski who survives. Mr. Brol was a graduate of Salamanca High School. He served with the US Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean War. While stationed in Washington, D.C. he was a mechanic on President Eisenhower's plane, the Columbine. He had been employed as a machine operator for Dresser Rand for 38 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and enjoyed raising Christmas trees, gardening, trips to the casino and playing bingo. He also loved taking care of his grand-dog "Lily". Surviving besides his wife are a daughter Diana Beil of Olean; 2 sons Michael (Debbie) Brol of Ijamsville, MD and Robert (Karen) Brol of Bristol, RI; 6 grandchildren Heather and Holly Peck, Christopher and Caitlin Brol and Zachary and Dylan Brol; 2 sisters Bernice Nolan of Allegany and Sylvia Deju of Florida; 2 brothers Gerald ((Suzie) Brol of Livonia and Victor (Patricia) Brol of Salamanca and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son-in-law George Beil; 6 sisters Veronica Dombeck, Marian Karl, Irene Woodarek, Loretta Kuklewicz, Leona Zuzek, and Helen Myers and 3 brothers Chester Brol, Edward Brol and David Brol. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 5-8pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (January 6, 2015) beginning with a prayer service at 9:00am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, with full military honors being accorded by the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team. Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church or to the Allegany Engine Co., 188 W. Main St. Allegany, NY 14706. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
